Today was my first day back to work after maternity leave, and honestly? I was so nervous. It’s wild how you can be a fully functioning adult with a whole career… and still feel like you totally forgot how to do your job after a few months away.
I am lucky enough to work from home. Because of this I decided I want to keep baby home with me as long as I possibly can, so for now I officially have a little co-worker. He brings plenty of giggles, snuggles, and sweet baby energy to the workday, so I’d say morale is thriving.
What I Did to Make Today Less Chaotic
I tried to prep as much as I could because I knew my brain would be half in mom-mode, half in “wait… what ticket was I working on?” mode.
✨ Overnight oats — zero effort in the morning, and I swear it made me feel like I had my life together.

✨ Disney Lo-Fi — I put this playlist on and it immediately calmed my nerves. It’s soft, cozy, and just magical enough to make debugging feel less painful.
Link if you want the playlist:
✨ Pomodoro method — 25 minutes of focus, 5 minutes to stretch or play with baby, repeat. After four rounds you get a 15-minute break. This genuinely kept me sane.
And honestly? The day went better than I expected. Not perfect, but we found a little rhythm. He napped, I worked, we survived. That’s a win.
Manifesting a Smooth Tomorrow
Tomorrow’s a fresh start, and I’m really hoping my little guy takes a nap during lunch so I can work on my 6-day crochet star blanket (that I’ve been working on for… 28 days. Mom math is different, okay?).
Here’s to figuring it out as we go, tiny co-workers curled up next to us, and squeezing in crafting whenever life gives us five quiet minutes. 💛
