This weekend, I finally finished a year-long WIP—a Christmas stocking for my stepson that has been living in my closet since last year. You know the kind of project I’m talking about. Started with good intentions, then gently set aside while life got loud and busy and full.
I followed the Vintage Christmas Stocking pattern on Ravelry, and I loved how classic and cozy it feels—nothing fancy, just the kind of stocking that looks like it belongs to Christmas.
Finishing it felt really good. Not just because it’s done, but because it’s one of those things I kept telling myself I’d “get back to someday.” Turns out, someday was this weekend.
Now I just need to make a stocking for our new son, Landon… and one for myself. Once those are finished, everyone in our little family will have one, and that feels really special. Slow handmade traditions take time, but they’re always worth it.
If you’re on Ravelry and want to be craft friends, you can find me there as Shellykins. I love seeing what other people are making and cheering each other on—especially when it comes to finally finishing those long-forgotten projects.
