Learning My New Knitting Machine (and Loving It)

The knitting gods were smiling upon me, and I was blessed with an Addi knitting machine for Christmas by my mom. I’ve been spending time getting familiar with it when I can, and so far I’ve made three hats—plus one (happy) mistake project.

I’m still figuring out tension, speed, and all the little quirks that come with a new tool, but I’m already having so much fun with it. I have figured out that certain yarns work better than others. I think my hat #2 crashed and burned so bad because of the yarn and/or the tension I was holding it at. If anyone has advice or opinions on the best yarn to use on a knitting machine I’m all ears!

There’s something really satisfying about seeing a project come together quickly, especially in this season of life where uninterrupted craft time is… rare. I’m planning to grab the smaller Addi knitting machine ASAP so I can experiment with that too, and maybe the most exciting part? I’ll finally be able to use up a huge chunk of my yarn stash that’s been sitting around for years. It feels so good to have a new way to bring that yarn back to life.

More to come, and please send any machine knitting pattern recommendations my way 💕🧶
