One of my friends is taking on a temperature blanket this year, and watching her commit to something so thoughtful and long-term really got my wheels turning. It made me pause and ask myself a simple question: what do I actually want to spend my creative time making this year?
Not what I should finish. Not what’s been sitting in a project bag glaring at me. But the pieces that feel meaningful, cozy, and worth carving time out for in the middle of everyday life.
So instead of a long, overwhelming craft to-do list, I’m calling these my 2026 crafting intentions.
Here’s what I’m hoping to complete this year:
- Finish the Bigfoot cross stitch for my mom (this one has been a labor of love and I really want it framed and gifted)
- A cross-stitch baby announcement for my daughter
- A cross-stitch baby announcement for my son
- A stocking for me
- A stocking for my son
- Finally finish my 6-Day Star Blanket
- Create my first machine-knit sweater (equal parts excitement and fear)
- Knit a Baby Mr. Rogers cardigan for my son
Some of these are finishes, some are new beginnings, and all of them feel personal. They’re projects tied to people I love, moments I want to remember, and skills I want to grow into—slowly, imperfectly, and without pressure.
If you’re a maker too, I’d love to know— what projects are you working on this year? Big, small, half-finished, or just an idea scribbled in a notebook… they all count 🤍
